Fat Transfer & Skin Care Products
At 42, this hard working new jersey woman decided it was time to get her lower eyelid surgery. She came to me for help, after being disappointed by her previous cosmetic surgeon, who has taken all her fat out of her lower eyelids, and she now felt like she looked 10 years older, not younger. Other than cheek implants, the only other choice was facial fat transfer, which not only gives a more natural appearance and feel, but can be used anywhere fat loss has occurred in the face. I asked her to attend our cosmetic seminar, and when she came back for another consult she wanted the fat in all the other places in her face that she could now notice needed some filling.
She was thrilled with her appearance at 4 months and noticed that her skin looked a lot better. She was also using glycolic and retinoic acid on her skin, but this skin improvement is caused by new blood vessels growing into the skin after fat transfer (this also happens after CO2 laser resurfacing), and this makes the skin look even better.
Other pictures of her show her without sutures or cuts on her skin at 5 days after surgery, but she is bruised and puffy and will stay that way for a few weeks. I tell all my fat transfer patients to plan 5-6 weeks off before an important event in case thy are still puffy. She did require a 2nd fat touch up at 9 months under her lower lids and inner cheek. 50% of fat transfer patients require at least 1 fat touch up, at a nominal fee.
