New Jersey Cosmetic Surgeon Dr. Susan Hughes, M.D., F.A.C.S.
As we grow older, we lose fat from our facial area. While many view losing fat as a good thing, however, the loss of facial fat can create facial depressions, folds, and wrinkles. Micro fat transplants are designed to enhance facial appearance using fat taken from the patient's own body. This procedure can recontour your face, and restore your cheekbones and chin to a more youthful state. For those interested in micro fat transplants, it is one of the facial rejuvenation procedures available here at Dr. Susan Hughes' New Jersey plastic surgery practice.
Micro fat transplants are an office procedure performed with local anesthesia. Using a small needle attached to a syringe, small amounts of fat are removed from a donor site like the abdomen, saddle bags, flanks, or knees. Once the fat is processed, it is then re-injected just under the wrinkle or depression. 40-80% of the fat stays for three years or more, especially if the full series of three or four micro fat injections are performed.
