Cheek/Mid Facelift in New Jersey

One of the earlier, more subtle signs of aging is that our full, youthful cheeks start to lose volume. The fat pad of the cheek begins to move downward, causing several concerns:

  • The inferior lower eyelid begins to look sunken or hollow as the bordering cheek fat begins to sag
  • Nasolabial and marionette folds – the creases that descend from the nostrils to the chin and frame the mouth – become deeper and more pronounced
  • Corners of the mouth begin to turn downward, and jowls begin to appear

The mid-face, or the cheek area, will not elevate with a traditional, lower face lift.

Dr. Hughes refers to the cheek and midface as the ' orphan of the face", because patients frequently overlook this area. This descended cheek area is often unattended to. Attempts to do so with a traditional face lift can give the face the undesirable pulled or windblown look. This is completely avoidable with what we call a "midface lift." An endoscopic cheek and mid facelift can bring a dramatic, natural and desired improvement to the cheeks, nasolabial folds , corners of the mouth and marionette lines, with minimal incisions and downtime.

About the Procedure

A mid facelift elevates sagging skin and cheek fat and reduces the nasolabial folds, marionette lines and the jowls, while elevating the corners of the mouth. This is performed as an outpatient procedure with local anesthesia and I.V. sedation, and takes between 2-3 hours. A mid facelift is almost always performed with an upper facelift (brow lift), and is optimized with laser skin resurfacing and/or fat transfer to the hollows and depressions in the face, especially the cheeks and around the eyes and mouth.

Dr. Hughes specializes in the mid facelift for Philadelphia and New Jersey patients who want a beautiful, natural looking result with minimal incisions.
