Mini-Incision and Total Endoscopic Facelift Before and After Photos

What areas of my face are improved with a mini-incision facelift?

Fact: The face is divided into thirds:

  • The upper third (forehead, eyebrow, upper lids). This is called endoscopic browlift
  • The mid third (lower lid, cheek, jowls). This is called an endoscopic midface lift. It is almost always done with an endoscopic browlift.
  • The lower face (jowls, jawline, neck) is often improved endoscopically.

What is minimal incision facial surgery?

It is endoscopic surgery using a tiny fiber optic lens inserted through half-inch incisions placed inconspicuously in skin wrinkles or the scalp. The lens is attached to a camera and television to allow visualization during the surgery. Through these four or five incisions tiny scissors, elevators and sutures are passed and manipulated externally while the physician views the surgery on the TV monitor.

Am I a candidate?

The best candidate is a younger patient with early facial ptosis (drooping) where the removal of excess skin is not required. This is excellent for recontouring and smoothing out tissue.

The results are optimized with laser resurfacing and/or fat transfer.

A review of photographs in your 20s and 30s helps US (underline) determine the best choice for you.

The procedures:

  1. Endoscopic Browlift: This mechanically corrects loose skin, smoothes out forehead wrinkles between the nose and the crows feet area and raises drooping eyelids.

This outpatient procedure is done with local anesthesia and I.V. sedation and takes from one to two hours.

This restoration restores youth and drama to the top third of the face, and is frequently performed with and endoscopic mid-face lift to "more naturally" restore your eyes.

Optimally, this is performed with a mid-facial elevation (lift) through the same small scalp incisions.
  2. A Mid-face: this elevates sagging skin and cheek fat and reduces the nasalatial folds and the jowls. This is performed as an outpatient procedure with local anesthesia and I.V. sedation, and takes between 1.5 to 2 hours.

A mid-facelift is usually performed with a brow lift, and optimized with laser resurfacing and/or fat transplants to the cheeks and eyes.
  3. Neck lift: this is for reduction of sagging skin UNDER the jaw. This is also an outpatient procedure with local and I.V. sedation and takes 1.5 to 2 hours. Decreased scarring, numbness, hair loss, and a quicker recovery are benefits of this procedure. The mini-neck lift does not work well if there is excess skin that needs removal. This works best in men who have a chin implant.

The results are optimized with laser resurfacing to tighten the surface of the skin and fat transfers to restore the deeper subcutaneous structures.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

  • Mini-incision facelift surgery equals:
  • Most natural looking, youthful face
  • Smaller incisions
  • Reduced scarring
  • Less hairloss, less numbness
  • Quicker recovery = 3 to 7 days
